This research has been compiled with the aim of examining the role of male Qawwamiyat (guardianship/leadership) on the efficiency of the family system from the perspective of contemporary exegetes. An examination of verse 34 of Surah An-Nisa indicates differing interpretations among exegetes regarding the role of men in family affairs. Accordingly, identifying the doubts related to this subject, as well as stating the characteristics of desirable management within the family, is considered a necessity of the present research. The main problem of the research is: in what way has male Qawwamiyat influenced the efficiency of the family system from the perspective of contemporary exegetes? Using a descriptive and analytical method and utilizing Islamic texts, the present research concluded that from the perspective of contemporary exegetes, male Qawwamiyat in the Quran does not signify the superiority of men over women; rather, this gender difference emphasizes the issue of the division of duties among family members. Since men hold a heavier role in this domain compared to women, the Holy Quran has, in certain cases, placed the competence in the sphere of decision-making in family affairs upon men. Based on the eligibility and competence of men, this issue has been addressed, and this Qawwamiyat leads to the stability, endurance, and efficiency of the family system.
